Summary
Coach Buddy is a local app for organizing football tournaments, games, players, and substitution reminders. The coaching data you enter is generally stored locally on your device. There is no user account, no advertising, and no tracking for advertising purposes.
If you add player photos, the app uses the camera or photo library only with your permission. Local notifications and live activities are used for game and substitution timers. Backup files are only created, imported, or shared when you actively use those features.
For app updates and technical update insights, the app sends technical data and a randomly generated installation identifier to Expo. Your operating system may also back up app data if you have enabled its backup features on your device.

2. What the App Stores Locally
Coach Buddy lets you enter and manage football coaching information, including player names, positions, notes, player avatars, tournaments, game schedules, opponents, scores, game events, lineup and substitution state, timer settings, and app language settings.
This app data is stored in a local database on your device. Coach Buddy does not provide an account system or a cloud sync service for this data. I do not receive the coaching data you enter unless you deliberately send it to me, for example in a support request.
3. Player Data and Youth Teams
Player names, notes, photos, lineup history, and match statistics can be personal data. If you use Coach Buddy for a club, school, youth team, or another organized group, you are responsible for entering and using that data lawfully and for obtaining any required permission from players, parents, guardians, or the organization.
For data stored exclusively on your device, you are the controller within the meaning of the GDPR. I have no access to this data and am, in this respect, neither a controller nor a processor. Please avoid storing special categories of personal data (for example health or injury information, Art. 9 GDPR) unless you have your own legal basis for doing so.
4. Photos, Camera, and Media Library
Coach Buddy may ask for camera or photo library permission when you take or choose a player avatar. These permissions are optional and controlled by your device settings. Selected avatar images are copied into app storage so they can be displayed inside Coach Buddy.
5. Notifications, Timers, Live Activities, and Widgets
Coach Buddy may request permission to send local notifications for substitution reminders and game timers. Timer information may also be shown through system features such as live activities, widgets, or lock screen views. These features are used to display information from the current game and do not create a Coach Buddy account or cloud profile.
6. Backups, Imports, and Sharing
Coach Buddy can export a backup file and import a backup file that you select. Backup files may contain the coaching records stored by the app. Treat backup files as confidential, especially if they contain player names, notes, photos, or youth-team information.
When you save, share, upload, email, or otherwise transfer a backup file, the destination service you choose, such as a file provider, cloud drive, email app, or messaging app, handles that file under its own terms and privacy policy.
You can also share game and tournament summaries as images through your operating system's sharing feature. These images may contain names, player photos, and match statistics. The app creates them locally; you choose the recipient or destination service.
Separately from manual export, Android and iOS may include app data in device or cloud backups, depending on your operating-system and backup settings. Such backups are not Coach Buddy cloud sync and are governed by your chosen backup provider's terms. Check these settings, particularly when storing youth-team data.
7. App Updates and Technical Services
Coach Buddy uses Expo services for app builds and over-the-air update delivery. The app automatically checks for updates at launch and when returning to the foreground. These requests send a persistent installation identifier randomly generated on the device, platform, app runtime and update version, and technical request data including the IP address to Expo. The identifier is not an account and contains neither your name nor an advertising ID.
Update requests enable technical insights into update usage and adoption. After an update-loading failure, a technical error message may also be sent. This data is used for update delivery, diagnostics, and update-usage insights. It is transferred over HTTPS and is not used for advertising tracking. Update requests do not upload the coaching database or player photos. The app currently has no switch to turn off these automatic requests.

If you install Coach Buddy through an app store, the store operator processes data under its own privacy policy. This may include Apple for App Store distribution and Google for Google Play distribution. Store operators may process account, download, payment, crash, diagnostics, security, review, and device information. Coach Buddy does not control those store operator processing activities.
8. Support Requests
If you contact support by email, I process your email address, message content, and any information you choose to include, such as screenshots, device details, or backup files. Do not send sensitive team or player information unless it is necessary for support.
9. This Website
This website is hosted with GitHub Pages. The website does not include advertising cookies or analytics scripts. GitHub may log visitor IP addresses and related technical information for security and service operation.

11. Recipients
App data stored only on your device is not sent to me by Coach Buddy. Depending on how you use the app and website, data may be processed by:
- GitHub Pages, for hosting this website.
- Expo, for app update delivery and related technical services.
- Your app store provider, such as Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Your email provider and my email provider when you contact support.
- Clear-Media UG (online-impressum.de), for the address used in the legal notice, the email forwarding (alias), and the contact form — receiving and forwarding messages to me under a data processing agreement.
- Any third-party service you choose when sharing or storing backup files.
12. International Transfers
Some service providers, including GitHub, Expo, app store providers, and email providers, may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or other lawful transfer mechanisms provided by those service providers. A copy of the appropriate safeguards, for example the standard contractual clauses, can be requested at coachbuddy@mail.online-impressum.de.
13. Retention and Deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you edit it, delete it, reset the app data, or uninstall the app. Backup files remain wherever you save or share them until you delete them there.
Support emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the request and for reasonable follow-up, unless a longer retention period is required for legal reasons. Website and technical-service logs are retained by the respective service providers according to their own policies.
14. Your Rights
Subject to the GDPR requirements, you may have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.
For local data stored only on your device, the most direct way to access, correct, export, or delete it is to use the app's edit, export, delete, reset, or uninstall features.
15. Complaints
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement.
16. Automated Decision-Making
Coach Buddy does not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
17. Changes
This policy may be updated when the app, services, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest update.
